The ARIZONA VORTEX v.2.0 "Multipod" from Rock Exotica is the most versatile and "state of the art" artificial high directional (AHD) available to confined space rescuers and the rope rescue and rope rigging industry. With training, you may use this high directional in a variety of ways and in any number of environments from industry to wilderness. The Arizona VORTEX, or "AZV", is ideal for confined space rescue, mine rescue, cliff rescue and industrial rescue. It is also well suited to bridge inspectors, rope access, the construction trades and the movie industry.

What's NEW in the ARIZONA VORTEX v.2.0?
Arizona Vortex v.2.0 incorporates improvements gained from the use of v.1.0 in Ropes That Rescue and CMC Rescue School programs for almost three years. Version 1.0 user recommendations were elemental in this transition to the latest version. We also felt that the design needed to incorporate a monopod, bipod and tripod capability so that the AZV v.2.0 could be deemed a multi-function AHD suitable for not only wilderness mountain rescue teams (gin poles, bipods), but industrial teams as well (confined space rescue tripod).

The following improvements in v.2.0 should be noted:

  • AZV v.2.0 head now breaks apart. Users can now use monopod (gin pole) and bipod (A frame) independently or at same time.
  • Pulleys can now be introduced directly into the head via quick pins. No carabiners needed. Clearance is improved.
  • Sideways A frame attachment point offset to side of head so rope does not rub on legs
  • Two easel A frame attachment points so ropes miss back easel leg
  • Quick pins rotated 90º on all legs so ropes do not catch
  • Two offset A frame attachment points
  • Less 'slop' in the articulating joint at the head
  • Combination telescoping and coupled legs allowing more versatility in use in confined spaces
  • Omni foot, "raptor" foot or blunt tip foot option for purchase
  • Limit on AZV v.2.0 rotation of easel leg OUTWARD above 120º angle (so legs cannot invert accidentally)
  • Limit on AZV v.2.0 rotation of easel leg INWARD below 30º angle (so legs cannot fall together accidentally)
  • Central pick point in center of AZV v.2.0 head for tripod set up over confined space
  • Improved carry bags available form Rescue Response Gear
  • Smaller "raptor" feet
  • Better design on flat feet (Omni Foot for version 2)
  • Pending tripod certification in Europe
